Story of a small town bank cashier dismissed from his job, after the bank’s president John Gresham is indicted for embezzlement. The bank trustees suspect that Baldwin is involved in the crime but don’t accuse him. He cannot find other work because of the scandal and is practically penniless when he receives a strange offer of $100,000 if he will leave town.
